Hi,
There is a problem in snow depth map for (Israel_ 4km_ WRF model) grib file in the XyGrib. It indicates that there is a snow in some areas but in actual there is no snow.
This problem occurred for the reference date and time: 12Z25DEC2019 and also occurred at the recent reference date and time :12Z26DEC2019 .
This problem did not occur for the reference date and time :00Z26DEC2019 .

Thank you

These screen shots are from XyGrib (reference date and time: 12Z25DEC2019).
The attached meteogram image of some area in red circle shows how snow depth values are high but in actual there is no snow.

WRF 4km Snow Depth Map Problem 4 years 3 months ago #646

Hi,
We were checking a different cumulus scheme in the WRF model during the current depression system in the East Med and the scheme apparently it over estimated the probability of snow. However the real time readings at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem showed snow conditions around 3 am local time on Friday so it was relatively close to snow in the shown areas.
We will keep an eye on the snow prediction and change schemes if needed.

The exaggerated snow prediction was related to the micro-physics scheme which has been adjusted with better results anticipated.
Thanks for pointing out the issue.

Hi,
Does this different cumulus scheme affect the prediction of precipitation and the amount of precipitation?

I noticed that there is a decrease in the accuracy of the prediction of precipitation this season and not as before (as last winter season for example).
In many situations there is rain but the WRF model has never expected it, and in other situations there is no rain but the WRF model has expected it.
This occurred many times for different areas not for one specific area.
Also, many times there is a heavy rainfall and the WRF model has expected it as small amounts ( 0.1mm/h , 0.3mm/h ,0.5mm/h ,1mm/h for example).

Thank you
