For the Kyklades area in Greece, if the OpenWRF 4km definition does better than all the other models (see Karistos attachment), however in some cases (see Naxos) they still lack precision. Would it be possible to consider for this archipelago (100x100 NM) a WRF 2km development ???

Hi,
Thanks for the feedback.
A separate run for the Naxos area is not possible. However, later this year the server on which the openWRF Aegean area forecasts are run, will be upgraded and the WRF will be a recent version and improved setting will be used (requiring a more powerful server). There should be a very noticeable improvement in the forecasts even at 4km resolution.

Thank you David
Good news, indeed this morning, for the Naxos area, WRF 4km clearly shows the orographic depression downwind of Naxos (1), but also Poros (2), Sifnos (3), Ios (4). But, nothing downwind of Amorgos (5) which seems very surprising!!!

Hello David

I have two questions:
1- Will the server, WRF version and settings be upgraded for the Aegean area only or will it cover all areas where the OpenWRF forecasts are run?
2- What version of WRF will be used? Is it the latest version (WRF 4.4)?

Thank you
