Unable to download ARPEGE model 5 years 4 months ago #261

Hello,
I live in Tahiti. Until last week, Xygrib was doing fine and I could download all three models : ICON, GFS and ARPEGE. Xygrib was updated to 1.2.0 version on Friday and since I cannot download the ARPEGE model. When I try, I get a "Bad Request" error message. Shall I go back to the 1.1.0 version ?

Hi,
Did you perhaps select Arpege-EU for Tahiti area? In this case you would get an error message saying that the request is out of bounds?
Please try to select the global Arpege model (without the EU extension) and check again.
If you still have a problem, kindly make a screen shot of the download dialog as set before you click "Download" and post it here.
Thanks,
David

thank you for your answer.
Here is what I get when I select ARPEGE just the same way I used to on the older version.

Hi,
Are you having the same problem with GFS for the same selected rectangle? I suspect that you will have the same error.
I tried to get the same grib as you requested both on Windows and on Linux and had not problem with the interface in English and in French

As I suspect that it has to do with the decimal symbol being a comma instead of a point, please try to change the language of XyGrib to English, restart XyGrib for it to take effect and then try to download Arpege again.

If this works then you have an issue with the locale of your computer. Please check what region the locale is set to and let me know.
Thanks,
David

I get the same results when switching to English (although the comma is turned into a dot) except for when I take a larger area (whole Society Islands for instance), end even stranger, once I have downloaded the larger area grib files, if I try to narrow my search, none of the 3 models work.
I will get back to the 1.1 version, which was doing perfectly in my area as far as I am not concerned by the models that are addes in the 1.2.0.
Thank you anyway.

Just noticed that I cannot swicht back to the older version. I made then several tests :
- language doesn't seem to be an issue, because I also get error messages when english is on.
- it seems that it has to do with the size of the area that is defined by clicking and sliding on the map. While I could just get the sample I want with the older version to get 3 models (IOT corroborate the info) - most of the time Moorea and Tahiti, this is no longer possible and if I have to make a bigger selection (the whole archipelago).
Strange and a bit annoying but I can always zoom in.
