Hi all,
any plans for a QGIS integration, e.g. with a plugin allowing direct download of grib files?
I'm available for help if useful.
Thanks.

Hi,

Nothing planned for QGIS.

No objection to a download plugin as long as the use is directly by the end user in the client application without any bulk downloading to any intermediate server or the likes. There is a concern to maintain server responsiveness as resources are limited.

Thanks again Dave,
I see two options here:
* use xygrib from within QGIS (do you have an API we can use?)
* reimplement the direct download from within QGIS (do you have a lib we can reuse?
I'd be very grateful if you could point me out to the relevant piece of code in xygrib.

Hello,
I suggest to continue the conversation about these very technical aspects on github.com/opengribs/XyGrib.
And maybe, you will be able to find what you are looking for. Filenames are most of the time rather explicit.

As DomH suggested we are moving development discussions to github at github.com/opengribs/XyGrib/issues/180

Resources on this site will always be free and open with no commercialization. However, operating costs of the servers to pre-process and deliver GRIB files to XyGrib are not trivial.
