I am using version 1.1.0. Love the program POI's are an and switch to Opengribs. Being able to set new POIs is an important part of my use of the program. I would like to upgrade to the latest version, 1.20 but cant if I can not import and or add my existing POI's and add new ones. Can anyone tell me where POIs are stored in the new 1.1.2 version and the very newest 1.20 versions? Or any other advice? Thanks.

Hi,

XyGrib from version 1.1.1 and up store the xygrib.ini file and the POI definitions file xygrib_poi.ini in the following locations:

Windows: C:\Users\<UserName>\AppData\Local\openGribs\XyGrib\xygrib_poi.ini
Linux: /home/<UserName>/.config/xygrib_poi.ini
Mac: /Users/<UserName/Library/Preferences/xygrib_poi.ini

You can save a copy of your old POI file and then copy it over the newly installed one.

David,

Thanks for your reply via email and here. I have tried the folder location you referenced but do not have the folder structure you reference. I am using two computers a laptop running Windows 7 and a tower running Windows 10. Neither shows the folder structure below.

Windows: "C:\Users\<UserName>\AppData\Local\openGribs\XyGrib\xygrib_poi.ini"

I am able to run Xygrib 1.1.1 on both machines and the PI file is in the "C:Xygrib/Data/Config".

So using Xygrib version 1.1.1 I I can copy & paste the POI file but in version 1.2 with no "Data" or "Config" folder structure I can not.

Hi,

In Win 10 configuration data should be in C:\Users\<USER>\AppData\Local\openGribs\XyGrib\
There won't be a xygrib_poi.ini file in that location until at least one POI is created.

Did you find openGribs\XyGrib anywhere on your computer? I suggest using search to find the folder openGribs.

I can also suggest searching for all instances of xygrib.ini on your computer. Remove all and reinstall XyGrib.
Please make a safety copy of your old xygrib_poi.ini with all the POI's you wish to keep.

Hello.
In version 1.2.0 your local data go in the directory thar David said to you: C:\Users\<UserName>\AppData\Local\openGribs\XyGrib
The directory structure of the program has changed so "C:Xygrib/Data/Config" is not used anymore (if I am not mistaken). After installing version 1.2 copy your xygrib_poi.in filke in C:\Users\<UserName>\AppData\Local\openGribs\XyGrib\ (which was authomatically created by the instalation) and you'll see your POI when you open XyGrib 1.2.0.

Tropelio

Yes. Yes, Yes...Finally. For some reason my Windows 10 folder tree was not showing the exact structure you provided. To find it I did a search for the "openGribs" folder, within it was the Xygrib folder and within it was the Xygrib POI.ini file. I copied my 275 kb poi file to that location and voila my POIs appeared. Thank you for your patience. My work around may help others using Windows 10 and Xygrib 1.20.
